Whoa.

My mum was going out yesterday and I decided to pull an all-nighter. (Well, I didn't quite decide that myself, it was her fault.)
I was watching Golden Girls as usual, then I just zapped around, then My Name Is Earl (and I got really confused inbetween because of the time change!) and then I switched to RTL 2, and they played American Psycho.
The title of the movie sounded quite familiar, so I started watching it. I had already missed a good 30 minutes of the movie, and it took 2 minutes for Christian Bale to kill Jared Leto with an axe. Quite splattery, but I just decided I'd like it and continued watching.
To tell you, I've really been drawn into that movie and was shocked the whole time, and I couldn't really
reassemble all my brain cells up until now. (And Christian Bale is really sexy, to be honest! ;P)

The book was a caused a whole mess when it was released because of its controversial display of sadomasochistic pornography and violence. (It even was restricted to people over 18 in many countries; in Germany it was on the index for a long time, but fortunately isn't anymore so I'm going to buy it tomorrow.)
But actually it is just a satirical portrait of the 80's superficiality, which shows even more in the movie (for example, when Patrick Bateman kills Paul Allen/Owen, he just talks about the song 'Hip to be Square' for a long while, before he just smashes the axe into Paul's face.)

It is interesting that he seems to have no feelings; or the same feeling, no matter what he does. The brutal murders seem to be on a level with a normal chat with one of his colleagues, and he even depicts himself as a human being with one major flaw, the complete absence of any normal feelings.
The whole movie is just really surreal, especially when you find out in the end that.. Well, I'm not going to tell you, watch it yourself.

I think that's a movie I'll remember for a long time, and if I read the book, it's going to be on my mind for even longer.

Spoilers following!

Picture 1: That is when he hires two prostitutes, kills one while having sex, the other one flees and finds the corpses of the various people Bateman murdered, he follows her with the chainsaw (while still being naked.) and then in the staircase, he just lets the chainsaw fall and kills the gal.

Picture 2: He wants to kill his secretary Jean, but she is the only human he ever developed something close to feelings for, so he doesn't feel able to do it.

Picture 3: Must be from the 30 minutes I missed, but it's sexy so I decided to upload it. (Edit: That's from the intro, where he just talks about his daily beauty procedures.)

That sounds like an... interesting movie. Not something I'd watch. And I'm perverted. But not sadistic. And it's a man. I don't like psycho stuff. But I'm glad you enjoyed it XD

It is definitely interesting. I'm not perverted or sadisitc either - Ok, I'm a pervert - but I enjoy weird characters and weird movies.
It's a SEXY man. Really. Even though he's a necrophiliac, cannibal and kills animals.
OK I AM WEIRD.

I STILL LOVE YOU :3

YEAH I KNOW.

God, the book is kind of hilarious, because the conversations are so shallow, his remarks about murder are hard to catch when you don't know the plot and I just love it, even though I'm only on page 48.

OH GOD NOW I HATE YOU READING IS AWESOME.

Anyways, I'm on page 309 now, and it's awesome. Except for when he kills a dog and lets its intestines fall out, and he slits the beggars eye and everything is so DETAILED.

GOD SHUT UP I ABSOLUTELY ADORE PAT BATEMAN.

Seriously. He has to be the funniest, best-mannered, senseless-est drug-addict-serial killer ever.
I'm weird, am I not? Whenever I see a movie or read a book or play a game that really affects me on the inside, I can't stop thinking about it for WEEKS.
It was like that with Death Note, The Princess Diaries 2, heck, even High School Musical 2.
And I get HIGHLY jealous, or annoyed at anyone that then reads/plays/watches the same thing I did before. I just consider it MINE then and don't want anybody to know MY thing.
Hell, I guess I could never write a biography because I would hang every single person that reads it.
